Q: What is “CRISPR”?

A: “CRISPR” (pronounced “crisper”) stands for Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats, which are the hallmark of a bacterial defense system that forms the basis for CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing technology.

Of particular interest to UEL as a network accelerator with BARDA/DRIVe, the health-care/-security possibilities of CRISPR seem endless.  Genome discovery and advancements are exciting, frequent and for many life changing, but how are we able to help folks understand what it all means.
