ABOUT BARDA: BARDA/DRIVe is designed to transform health security and to save the lives of Americans with new solutions to health security problems. DRIVe provides technical and financial resources to entrepreneurs whose ideas have the potential to transform the paradigm of emergency preparedness, detection, and response. We’re modernizing traditional governmental outreach and contracting systems to improve the speed, efficiency, and responsiveness of our support to potential partners. And we’re reaching out to entrepreneurs in their own communities.
DRIVe is part of BARDA within the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. We are charged with securing our nation from chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threats, as well as from pandemic influenza, antimicrobial resistance, and emerging infectious diseases.
DRIVe is adopting best practices from the entrepreneurial world to catalyze a wave of ‘decentralized innovation’ that will address these challenges. We will utilize new tools and authorities to support new technologies, streamline contracting processes, and launch a network of accelerators to unearth the most promising ideas.
This is where UEL in partnership with local organization gener8tor https://www.gener8tor.com/ comes in; as a member of the BARDA accelerator network, UEL/gener8tor will be working together to identify technologies of interest to BARDA/DRIVe.
