Bob served as the founding Chairman of the UEL Board of Directors, served as Dean of the College of Biological Sciences and Professor of Neuroscience at the University of Minnesota, retiring from the University in 2014. Bob returned to the UEL Board in 2014.
He and Bonnie Baskin were co-founders of the Hill Country Science Mill, a regional science museum in Johnson City, TX. They serve as Science Director and President of that organization. In addition, Bob has served or continues to serve on the board of several other non-profit organizations, including the Science Museum of Minnesota, The Freshwater Society, EnerChange ,and the InSciEdOut Foundation.
